About Us

Shayna & Loren are both born and raised in the Richmond District of San Francisco. Shayna has been caring for children and infants for over 25 years. Loren has cared for children for over 15 years. In those years we have nannied, run a daycare and Shayna is also a certified Postpartum Doula.

Shayna & Loren have great knowledge of child development. We do not hover over the children we allow them to be free. There is structure but also the freedom to explore.

Although we are Montessori based, we are also moms who love to engage and love being silly. We are very down to earth and don't take things to seriously (sometimes). Working with children is about having and making life fun. Patience is to keep a good attitude while waiting! We help children learn about emotions and personal space and that taking a "Time Out" is not about a punishment but a safe space where they can think about their feelings and take a break. After they have done so we talk about expressing feelings properly and end everything with a hug and loving space. We are not as traditional as most parents and teachers and I believe that is what sets us apart from others providers.

We love arts and crafts and even the infants are included in doing so. Our activities are endless.

We are CPR, First Aid, California Abuse State Mandate Reporter, Infant/Toddler Montessori Certified Teachers.

Philosophy

Welcome to Shayna’s Family Daycare & Montessori Preschool - a place for children to grow, learn and play. Your children deserve nothing but the best, so bring them here for an inviting environment that encourages curiosity and fun.

We have a very open policy for communication and respect. Communication and respect is the key to a healthy relationship and trust between families and providers. It is our job to make sure that we have this for the better of your child.

Meals

Meals are provided for children whom are eating table food. Most meals are home-cooked meals with some cheat days. We can not offer Vegetarian or Vegan. We do have vegetarian and vegan meals from time to time that I do prepare, but not on a daily basis. Parents are able to send their child with such meals if you like.

There are two snacks and one meal a day. Lunch is provided between 11a-12p.
